Enable Cortana on Xbox One outside the UK or US

Thanks to the Xbox One Summer Update, Microsoft is finally bringing Cortana to the Xbox One to the UK and US. Unfortunately, this new feature is region locked but itis also available if you have UK-English or US-English set as your system language.

The Summer Update also allows you to choose any supported language on Xbox One no matter where you are located. In other words, if you live in the U.K. and move to Spain, you will be able to keep the English language set on your Xbox One. So, if you set your console to the English language, you will be able to use Cortana even if you don’t live in UK or US.

How To Set UK or US Language On Your Xbox One

First, you will need to scroll left from Home in order to open the guide, select Settings->All Settings and under the System tab, choose Language and Location. For System Language, you will need to pick English (either United States or United Kingdom) and for Language, you will need to select “English”.

After that, you will need to restart the Xbox One console. You will notice a new Cortana settings button if you head to your console’s Settings->System menu. Select it and accept Microsoft’s term and conditions to enable Cortana.

Cortana can be used with either the Kinect or a headset. You will be able to find new games, start a party, start a game, turn on your Xbox One (if you are using Kinect) and much more by just using voice commands. Keep in mind Microsoft is planning to introduce even more features to Cortana to continue transforming it into a personal digital assistant for all your gaming needs.
