Gmail app for Android now supports Microsoft Exchange

Google recently updated its Gmail app for Android recently, and guess what? It now for the first time supports Microsoft Exchange. This is no doubt a big deal. The inability to add a Microsoft Exchange account made it difficult for users to have specialized work email accounts linked with Gmail.

That is no longer the case since the option is now there to add Exchange. We should point out that Nexus devices has always supported Exchange since 2014. Some of you might be saying this is not true, because other Android devices have been released with Microsoft Exchange support.

This is definitely true, but the support was not baked into Android or the Gmail app. The manufacturers decided to install the necessary files to make it happen.

With the current update, Gmail is now more of a rounded email client that anyone can use without much fuss.

Well, it is more rounded for Android users because those on iOS are still restricted. However, we expect this to change in the months to come because no doubt many iPhone users would request thus update in order for them to take advantage of Microsoft Exchange.

Overall, good move by Google, and we hope to see more like this in the future. The new Gmail app with Microsoft Exchange support can be downloaded right now from the Google Play Store.
