After the installation of one of the most recent updates, it seems that Microsoft’s recommendation for Bing and Chromium Edge on Windows 10 is back.

Users are being spammed with Bing notifications
Just in case you didn’t already guess what this issue was all about, know that users now deal with constant notifications that advertise the use of Microsoft Bing as the default search engine.
Note that this annoying prompt is being delivered only when Microsoft Edge is not the default browser on your machine, or you’ve stopped using Bing in favor of another search engine manually.
Users on Reddit are pointing out that these reports are starting to happen more and more, over the weekend, and more unexpected.
From what we can see, there are actually two different Bing advertisements being promoted. The first one is advertising the newsfeed (MSN) of the Bing homepage, as well as the secure/private results feature.
The second one shows that users can actually save money online if they switch to Bing, but only in the countries where the Microsoft Rewards feature is available.
And, as if this wasn’t bad enough, besides the Windows 10 alert, Microsoft Edge now also has a new full-screen prompt that advises users to restore the recommended browser and set Bing as the default search engine.
What can I do to stop receiving these notifications?
So, basically, users can either dismiss the notifications or just click on the Change settings button, in order to change the default browser/search engine to Microsoft Edge with Bing.
What’s more disconcerting is that these notices will appear even when you don’t use Microsoft Edge. What’s even worse is that they cannot be dismissed permanently if you click on Maybe later.
Rest assured that, if you just can’t take it anymore, it is possible to turn off these notifications. In order to disable the ad, you have to launch Microsoft Edge and navigate to the Edge://flags menu.
There you can disable the experimental flag Show feature and workflow recommendations. This is currently the only workaround to this nuissance.
We are all hoping that this new way of advertising certain Edge features will not be that intrusive in the near future, seeing how Microsoft announced that great things will come for this browser.
