Microsoft updated the Movies & TV app for Windows 10, implementing new features from the Fluent Design System, the official design language which until now was known as Project NEON.

The latest Movies & TV app updates for Windows 10 Mobile

The newest features include in-app acrylic to the hamburger menu resulting in a blurred background. This is just a new element that the Fluent Design System brought to the app, but more parts of the new language design are planned to be brought to more first-party apps in Windows 10 by Microsoft.

The Movies & TV app on PCs features a similar acrylic but unlike the mobile version of the app, this one uses background acrylic rather than in-app acrylic.

Reduced app performance on lower-end Lumias, including the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 730

Users have already encountered some flaws with this new update. One of them is lower performance on lower-end Lumias, for example, including the ones with the S400 chipset such as the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 730. The app runs 10-15 fps due to the Fluent Design effect, according to some users who have been complaining about the reduced performance of the app since it was updated.

Windows Insiders have the opportunity of giving the new Fluent Design element a try. If you’re part of the Insiders, all you have to do is get the app from the Windows Store.
