What to do if Windows 10/11 won't connect to Samsung TV

  • Make sure to have your network card drivers up to date
  • Check if you have the network sharing feature enabled
  • Reset the Stream Permission on the Windows 10 device
  • Make sure that certain services are not disabled

    • 1. Why won’t my laptop connect to my TV wirelessly?

  • First, you need to connect your Samsung TV to your wireless internet network by going to TV Menu > Network > Network Status
  • Connect your Windows 10 device to the same wireless internet network as your TV
  • Open Settings > Devices
  • In the left pane select Connected devices > Add a device
  • Windows 10 will now perform a scan and find your Smart TV > when found, click on your TV name > click on its entry to add on your PC
  • Wait for Windows to install the device > right click on the file you want to play on TV > Cast to Device > choose your Samsung TV

    • First of all, you need to make sure that the connection between your Windows 10 device and your Smart TV is correctly set up.

    2. Make sure to have your network card drivers up to date

  • Press the Start button > go to Settings
  • Click Network & Internet > click Change adapter options in the right pane
  • Right click on your active adapter > select Properties
  • In the Networking section click Configure > in the window that pops up go to the Driver section
  • Click Update Driver button > click Search automatically for updated driver software
  • Wait until the search is complete. If the system finds and installs any updates, reboot your PC afterwards
  • Check to see if the connection is now working.

    • The connection error could be caused by an outdated driver.

    3. Check if you have the network sharing feature enabled

    Having the network sharing feature enabled is imperative for Cast to Device to work.

  • Press the Start button and type network in the search box > click on Network status
  • Go to Network and Sharing Center > click Change advanced sharing settings in the left pane
  • Select the Turn on network discovery and Turn on file sharing options > click Save changessharing options other people might see
  • Check if the Cast to Device feature works now

    • 4. Reset the Stream Permission on the Windows 10 device

  • Press the Start button > type windows media in the search box > open the Windows Media Player
  • Select Stream > Allow internet access to home media… > Allow internet access to home media
  • Click Yes > OK
  • Go back to the main Windows Media Player window > click Stream > Turn on media streaming… > Turn on media streaming
  • Make sure that the devices under Local Network are allowed > click OK
  • Go back to the main Windows Media Player window > click Stream > make sure that Automatically allow devices to play my media… is ticked
  • Close Windows Media Player > try Cast on Device again to see if it works

    • Resetting the Stream Permission on the computer proved to be an effective solution for some users.

    5. Make sure that certain services are not disabled

    Complete the following steps:

  • Press R + Windows buttons on your keyboard > type services.msc in the Run box and hit Enterservices.msc - fix sound lenovo laptops
  • Search for each service and make sure their status is as follows:

    • Sometimes specific services are disabled in the system, such as DNS Client, Function Discovery Resource Publication, SSDP Discovery, and UPnP Device Host. Find these services and make sure they are not disabled.
