  • Using SFC ScanNow command:

  • Type the following command  sfc /scannowsfc scannow command prompt

  • Using StartComponentCleanup:
  • While you are still in the Command Prompt window, type the following command – dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup.
  • Press Enter and wait till the process is completed.

    • 2. Manually delete user.config file

    Delete user.config file and see if this helps if Windows Server Manager does not open

  • Navigate to the following file in your C folder or whatever marking you used to identify the root folder in your PC –C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft_Corporation\ServerManager.exe_StrongName_m3xk0k0ucj0oj3ai2hibnhnv4xobnimj10.0.0.0user.config
  • Delete the user.config file.
  • Restart Server Manager. This recreates the file.
  • This will also address any issues of the file having become corrupted and such.

    • 3. Rollback changes

    Rollback any recent changes made in your PC if Windows Server Manager is not opening recently

  • This is applicable if you are unable to start Server Manager only recently and that things worked fine prior to that.
  • In that case, ensure there are no software conflicts happening.
  • Some have reported issues with the graphics driver.
  • If you have updated your graphics driver recently, roll back the changes either via System Restore or uninstall the driver.
  • Try restarting Server Manager.

  • Click on Start > Settings > Update & Security.
  • In the Windows Update page, click on the Check for updates button to see if there are any updates available.
  • Make sure you download and install if any are available.

  • Also make sure you download the latest Remote Server Administrative Tool for the Windows 10 version you are running.
